Can I say a hot take?
I don't think the snowgrave route is about breaking the prophecy and becoming free "but at what cost"
I think snowgrave is about how you STILL have no freedom. After all, it's a linear route where you have to follow a specific set of choices that you're not allowed to deviate from. But you know what you can do? You can beat down on Kris and Noelle and take away their freedom too.
Snowgrave is an abusive relationship allegory right? Part of what drives some people to become abusers is that they were abused themselves, or their life is currently shit and they wanna drag someone else down.
You don't have much freedom in real life for reasons beyond your control, but you can always spit on a homeless person without consequences. It's often easier to make someone less fortunate than you more miserable than it is to improve your own life. That's like the one thing Spamtong internalized.
Snowgrave isn't about forging your own path at the cost of a worse ending. It's about how you're given the CHOICE to take away someone else's feeedom and you take it because well, you just don't want them to have freedom.
Anyways this is why I think Spamton emotionally abused Tenna during the tail-end of their relationship. As Spamton developed religious psychosis towards freedom and became aware that he doesn't have it; he started beating down on Tenna and manipulating him and he felt GOOD about it. But it didn't give him the freedom he craved, it just made Tenna worse and emotionally manipulative back.
