I cannot understand this phenomenon. Maybe, it's similar to men's view of lesbians. I mean it isn't revolting to men to see two women kissing, but it is to women. It's this revulsion that alienates the gay. There's no threat to a group of men if a lesbian shows up if she isn't a stupid feminist. The lesbian might even start agreeing with you. The faggot is probably the same way, socially, they can be kind of fun if they aren't offending you on an instinctual level. The woman sees the lesbian as fundamentally incorrect, the same way the man sees the faggot. All of this is informed by empathy.
