Russia canceled its first Russia-Arab summit because most of Arab leaders would not attend it.

The summit was supposed to take place on October 15, but a week earlier, it turned out that only acting president of Syria and Prime Minister of Iraq confirmed their participation.

Key regional players: UAE leader Mohamed bin Zayed, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, did not confirm their attendance.

The Kremlin says that it's due to the summit coinciding with the events around Gaza. Putin even said he decided to cancel the event himself.

The summit was first announced back in April, and Russia invited heads of 22 Arab states to attend. The slogan was "cooperation for peace, stability and security."

The Kremlin said it would be rescheduled for November.
