Zaluzhny was the competent one, he was let down by Zelenskys coke addled retardation, focus on conventional outdated demands and stubbornness. He was sacked because he was the fall guy for the catastrophic defeat in Zaporozhye grand offensive.
He warned Zelensky not to launch the offensive as Ukraine had literally zero air support and nowhere near enough artillery power, drone power and heavy armour to make a breakthrough as the Russians were not to be underestimated in the slightest but Zelensky firmly thought the Russians would fold instantly like the non battle at Kherson city(which was a Surovikin psy op from the very start) or the Russian troop replacement clusterfuck in north and east Kharkov oblast(literally Ukraine's only real military victory in this war and that was September-October 2022) and all effort by the Russians was on the insanely fortified Surovikin line in the Zaporozhye direction, Russia's entire war effort hinged on winning that pivotal battle in the summer of 2023. Ultimately they steamrolled and humiliated the Ukrainian military inflicting 300k casualties(inc <100k KIA) and destroying over 3600 irreplaceable armoured vehicles between 4th June 2023-9th December 2023 all in a tiny 6-11km stretch of land of a planned Ukrainian operation that was to penetrate 190km in 12 days. Every single objective was failed. It was so bad that no one in the west, in the media and the Ukraine has mentioned it since. The surprise reveal and liberal usage of the Russian FAB's utterly changed the war.
He was made Ambassador to the UK and is being headhunted by NATO to be the next Ukrainian president should Ukraine actually survive. He's also very well liked by the UAF.
Zelensky and Zaluzhny have an internal civil war with their own political factions. It's an open secret. Unlike all the other politicians and military leaders that Zelensky has had murdered or imprisoned, he can't get rid of Zaluzhny as he's too high profile and well liked.
