Even if it's engagement with baitposts I figure I may as well explain this since I doubt /dng/ knows how this stuff works

>They had to beg Konami to play MD!
Japanese corporate autism requires any kind of content creator, vtuber or not, that's signed as part of a corporation to have written permission to play any video game and receive monetization for it. This is not exclusive to Konami or MD, and they would have to do the same for Takara Tomy and DMP. It's a moot point either way because Nijisanji has had permissions to stream MD from the day the game launched, and multiple people within the company stream it regularly. (Rosemi from the EN branch even had MD as one of her final streams before she left the company a few months ago.) In fact, if there was any "begging" involved at all it would be for tournaments like this one because

>The nature of sponsorships
For something like these annual Niji tournaments, or the Hololive streams, Konami is the one paying the vtubers involved (or more accurately, paying the company they're signed under to pay them for it). It's the same situation when someone in a youtube video tries to sell you NordVPN. They are essentially contracting them to produce an ad for the game, and everyone who participates in it would be getting some sum of money for it. It is possible for Konami to pick and choose who they want to be in it, but otherwise the vtubers would be consulting with their managers to try and get into the event since a sponsorship deal is a more flat and stable income than relying on a cut of donations, on top of functioning as marketing for themselves.

>the venn diagram for people in japan into TCGs and people in japan into vtubers is probably just a circle at this point
This is true, which is why TT announced they're making a Nijisanji TCG, and why Bushiroad has the Hololive TCG. Believe it or not, it generally pays off to advertise your product to groups that would be most receptive to it.
