Cyrillic is actually surprisingly much more well-suited for handwriting than Latin, at least for Slavic phonology. There's barely any diacritics (all the top bars in my previous pic are the author's personal touch, not a requirement), and of the two that are there one is optional (ё) and the other appears almost exclusively at the very end of words (й). Moreover glottal stops and (de)palatalization are both expressed through dedicated letters instead of apostrophes. So the writer's flow is virtually never interrupted by the need to accent or umlaut or caron or apostrophize something. That allows for both higher speed and more pleasant writing experience.
