Sargon has finally gone there. Lindsay then responded with an essay in which he claimed Jews have a right to a homeland because they've been historically oppressed. Who's woke now?

Then he blathered on about English tradition as if our choice is to be internationalists (as if the people ever were) or to abandon being English:
>Your reply, of course, will be that England is under precisely this kind of threat now, and might be forced to choose to go into diaspora themselves or to take steps to establish an ethnostate like Israel as the last means of defending itself. That, of course, means abandoning the English tradition (making England not England), which has never applied to the Israeli circumstance.
Lindsay seems incapable of understanding that English is what the English are. If we were to discard our cultural norms and acquire new ones, the latter would now be English. A culture is simply the characteristics of a specific group of people at a specific time. The English are an ethnicity and what we practice is our culture. Lindsay thinks that a people are bound to their culture; when, in reality, a culture is bound to its people. We could tomorrow decide to adopt Islam en masse, and Islam would now be part of English culture (God forbid). Thus, even if it were true that the English are pro-immigration, as Lindsay seems to wrongly believe, it needn't be true tomorrow and we'd still be English. We're not an idea; we're a people. Our ideas are bound to us and not us to them. They do not make us English; we simply are English.
