I remember reading one of his comments on HN and he says the reason he does this is so that he can sell pro plans to enterprise customers (pro = no anime)
It's an interesting way to try and enforce the "companies must pay" angle. It's like if CrystalDiskMark only let you download the anime version for free but kept the version without anime paywalled
