Didn't a lot of this terminally online schizo puritan behavior start up around 2015-2016? A bit late into Homestuck's run, I think. I heard around that time a Netflix animated reboot of a series called Voltron had some fandom issues over whether shipping two of the main characters should be illegal and immoral (and thus warranting death threats and doxxing) because of an age gap, and there was the Undertale fanartist who got a cookie with needles in it for drawing the young(?) protag and Sans kissing or someshit
