That's the problem with a lot of grass-roots efforts, these days. I'm not saying this as a "they should do it for the love of the craft and ignore all view counts" way (even though I somewhat agree with the sentiment.) I think the problem is moreso that, even if they do view it, who really cares? From my experience, if 10 people view something I do, and all 10 are happy, I've done a good job. If 1000 people view it, and 10 are happy, then what's the point? There seems to be an overwhelming push towards mediocrity that the masses are, seemingly, alright with. Maybe that is just the eventual grave of every product; someone selling sells less for cheaper until there is nothing left in the end. Again, I don't know much about the fansub side of things, but I assume it follows along with manga a fair amount.
