I believe that Washington shapes their narrative to fit long-standing memes that are easy for humans to grasp without having to think critically and NOT that Tolkien's books continue to influence people just because he also expressed those memes/tropes. Hell, some 50% of Americans are illiterate so they sure as hell never read Tolkien.

I can give you other examples to support my view, but I think you'll just brush them aside with lazy non-arguments. Still, thanks for the article; interesting perspective (even if I disagree).
