Giving flight right from the start is always a mistake. It's reminding me of MMOs.
WoW vanilla only gave you a mount after being on foot for weeks, BC only gave you flight after horsing around the region for weeks, by the time you got those you were already really knowledgeable about the lay of the land and getting a new traversal option gave you a new perspective on how to explore.
GW2 HoT gave us gliding, a slow descent with a lot of horizontal range, it slowly unlocked jumping mushrooms, tunnel shortcuts, ley line gliding and so on as you explored which made exploration feel almost like a metroidvania. When the next expansion added mounts, they started by giving long jumps, they high jumps, then full on flying and after having explored basically every nook and cranny.
All this to say, giving us flying right from the start in Rinascita was a terrible idea, it makes a huge map feel so small, it kills exploration entirely, level design doesn't have to account for some walking around, everything has to be miles away with random enemies sprinkled in-between locations because no one's ever going to walk on foot there.
