I agree Soviet communism was shit, but it doesn't mean that there is no good basis in socialism.

Also, the Russian authorities like to turn everything into shit, be it communism, capitalism or whatever. So your example is not good, because counties under direct Russian rule tend to militarize everything, plummeting life standards.
