Iran's Foreign Ministry called the US actions a continuation of its "interventionist and illegal" policies against Venezuela , warning that they constitute a direct violation of the United Nations Charter. In its statement, Tehran emphasized that, in particular, they violate Clause 4 of Article 2 , which prohibits the use of force against sovereign states. The Iranian government expressed its solidarity with Venezuela and called on the UN to act in response to what it called a "potentially dangerous situation" that threatens peace in the Caribbean.
