Daemonhost and Icon of Icons are good enough that they can carry regardless but to get to the same level with Greater Warmachina you have to basically go to the moon for the stash there or awaken the Old Throne. Crafting New ones without Mounting being required is also possible.

The free War mechs are kinda useful but you will have the meta knowledge that a free one is at the bottom of the lake in New New York anyway.
