Gosticism is a common thread in a lot of valuable movements, it's the foundation of Rosicrucianism and Theosophy and builds on the older Hermetic ideals. Most of the medieval mystic resurgence that led to the Cathedral-building era and the Crusades were a direct result of men acting on these ideals. Hence the Arthurian fables of the Grail. Of course stories like the Grail are more importantly settings where the symbolic nature of the spirit is being revealed. Even today most of the symbols you see in old wisdom like the Tarot are only explicitly revealed in Masonic schools, though with the internet it's not too difficult to find more granular discussion of the symbology.
If you are interested in reading suggestions I can reccomend a lot of books on these subjects can be downloaded on the internet archive.
