NTA but if that really is the idea, cool and understandable. On the other hand, this (pic) is a lot less cumbersome and can be thrown to the side in seconds if need be. Hell of a lot lighter, too. A slightly upgraded camera tripod, a clamp or Y rest for the rifle, and some slightly fancy quick adjust legs seem a LOT less complicated than that thing. Worst thing a tripod has to endure is small areas where height can introduce a little wobble. Add a hanging weight from the bottom of the central height adjust tube, though, and that should reduce movement a lot (photographer taught me this trick a while ago, never knew it was an intended feature in some tripods).
