Generally, if you want a nice looking base, you need
>good location (landforms mod is good for this)
>multiple cosmetic mods (or mods with cosmetic elements)
>very good RNG, especially if you're playing on an "actual difficulty"
>Very good forethought and planning

It isn't easy to make an appealing base and you probably won't even have one until mid or late game because of research and resource costs. Picrel is my lategame colony from a recent save and it's ugly as shit lol
