/lit/ is great, but if you're looking for another board to circle jerk in that's not the place. Writing is both easy and hard which doesn't make sense, but it does after you've done it for a while. Basically, good ideas are the easy part, they're a dime a dozen and chances are you want to write something because you already have a good idea. The hard part is editing. Not actually writing the thing, that's also hard, but most of your time with the project is going to be spent on editing. Maybe you're happy with acts 1 & 3 but you can't explain why you hate act 2 so much and feel like scrapping the whole thing. Maybe you're happy with acts 1 & 2 but you can't figure out how to land the ending in the satisfying way. Maybe you found the perfect solution to a problem but now you need to rewrite act 1. You're going to be schizo for several months and friends & family will start worrying about you. You're likely going to have a wall filled up with flashcards like you're about to solve a cold case or something. It's hard work and that's the great filter. That's why there's no real "breakdown" outside of the basics and why so many stories seem to lack that "soul." No one can help you with that grueling process unless you hire someone in which case it gets expensive.
