>After graduating from Harvard College in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in physics, Moulton joined the United States Marine Corps. He served four tours in Iraq and then earned his master's degrees in business and public administration in a dual program at Harvard. He entered politics in 2014, when he was elected to represent Massachusetts's 6th congressional district.
>On April 22, 2019, Moulton announced himself a Democratic Party candidate for U.S. president in the 2020 election.[3] Moulton campaigned across Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina during spring of 2019.[4] Moulton's presidential campaign failed to garner support and Moulton did not qualify for the 2020 Democratic Party presidential debates.[5] Moulton subsequently withdrew from the presidential race on August 23, 2019.[6][7]
>On October 15, 2025, Moulton announced his decision to challenge incumbent U.S. senator Ed Markey in the Democratic primary for the United States Senate in 2026.[8]
