Most rooms? Most houses?

How big do you think most rooms are anyway?

Did you know that houses used to be built smaller, more compartmentalized? My parents got a nice airy house in the 80s, with 20 foot ceilings at various places and "open plan" rooms, because they moved on the new side of the city with all the new houses.
My friends who lived on the old side? Even when they had a big house, they had rather small rooms because they were compartmentalized. The kitchen was its own room. The living room was its own room, with two doors leading to it. The dining room was it own room. The den was its own room. Hallways leading to these rooms. Nice and cramp feeling, compared to modern homes you started seeing being made from the 80s, 90s, and onward.

So you had rooms like this, where the TV couldn't be at the recommended 8-10' viweing distance, because the room didn't have the space for it.

something something something about zoomers who are weirded out because the tv isn't 10 feet above their heads

ill never understand people who think TVs are supposed to be portable. You're supposed to move your TV once in its life time and that's where it's staying for the next 2-5 decades.
