I think Axeman just got too involved with giving the supporting cast more pages. Everything should always lead back to the family, because they're the core of the series. But between the solo arcs, the disconnected focus on secondary characters, and the lack of any significant changes for the family, the overall impression is that nothing happens even when something is happening.
I hate to keep comparing now to the early chapters, but the Forgers were always adapting to each other. Anya forces Yor and Loid to get together, Loid stands up for Yor and Anya to his detriment, Yor teaches Anya self-defense to be a mom to her in her own way, etc. It was always centered around how they treated each other and were changed because of it. There was a bit of that in today's chapter between Loid and Anya, so I hope Axeman does work more of it into the story again.
