It's easy to have it "both ways" when you are wrong and don't know what you are talking about.
saying that "rig causes the resonance" is wrong. Resonance happens because of simple physics and wave behavior.
It's around 8k on most graphs because it's where most reviewers decided to align it. Its behavior is not consistent and depends on IEM and a coupler itself.. Some can't even be aligned at 8k. You can find explorer graphs with bumps around 8k. But none of it is really representative of its behavior inside an actual ear. Actual ear will have different unique acoustic impedance which will change the base FR of IEM. Then anatomical differences and insertion depth will change it even further in unpredictable ways. As provided image demonstrates. IEM not having peaks on graphs does not guarantee that in real ear it will behave the same way (it will not).
Also I'm pretty sure most people with clone 711 couplers don't actually use fake ears. But it's not really relevant.
