Nah, it's obvious you guys don't get the whole "issue" here.

On the Chinese internet the dev caught flak for advertising this game with "明末" which means late Ming dynasty but it's used exclusively in context of the rebel coup and Qing regime change. And making games and movies about that is fine, they do it all the time. The problem is this game isn't really about that event at all. Instead it's about a magical bird plague ending the dynasty (despite advertising the game with a controversial term for easy exposure).

It's kinda hard to equate this with a western historical event for you to get it. Maybe making a game called "Sacking of Constantinople" (but imagine the term "Sacking of Constantinople" itself is a motto of sorts) but then don't even talk about the Crusaders or the Turks and instead let it be about some aliens that bombed the place and the final boss is some Orthodox Christian nun lol

I went with "Sacking of Constantinople" because it's a singular well documented and quick event. Not for example "Fall of Rome" which, despite being used colloquially more, isn't a specific event but rather a series of decisions that lead to that.
