I've been doing a read through recently and yeah the original trilogy has so far been good. The first book is a pretty basic DnD type adventure. One thing that stands out in this is how VERY Mormon the Hickmans are. It doesn't detract or anything, it's not like they're using it to preach, but it's also very obvious where their influences came from. It's fun enough. Book 2 "Winters Night" is a HUGE step up in terms of quality. Way more character payoffs. Bigger scale adventure. Genuinely good. I haven't reread Spring Dawning yet. But I do remember liking it as a kid. Dragonlance as a series is something I do have a lot of nostalgia for. I used to live in those books. Its what got me into fantasy on the whole and DnD.
