Logguard is basically protection if Hong Lu, and only Hong Lu, is about to take unopposed damage from nonAoE. A Heishou will intercept with a defense skill
And yes, the passive does cancel the EGO's kill condition once per encounter. But if you negate the death, and use the EGO again, you die normally
