It pushed me into a corner that put me outside of the boss arena and locked me out. So I went to the bench up above it, sat down, came back and had to restart the fight. So I killed him, but I got the benefit of a closer/safer bench for the run back.

I still had to fight him another half dozen times since I'm trash, but I eventually did kill him. I'm in Act 3 now.
