Apple products work best when you buy into the whole ecosystem, which is part of the appeal to a lot of people (buy all Apple stuff and use it the way Apple envisioned and it mostly just works) and why I don't personally use any of their products anymore (deliberate compatibility issues can make interfacing with a variety of hardware and software needlessly tedious).
