watched chris broad's shit like 15(?) years ago when he was starting out as a youtuber. was fun and informative, and nicely sarcastic. I dont watch youtube much at all these days but this has gotten so big I had to check it out.
that oriental pearl person is a fucking kike. her story is that she moved to china to teach english back in 2012(?), named herself after the oriental pearl tower in shanghai, learned mandarin and went to school in china, then worked in china, taiwan, and went to school in japan for a few years and learned japanese and then the pandemic happened and she got "stuck" in japan and couldnt return to china or leave japan for the USA without being unable to renter japan.
in her old videos, she specifically talks about having an algorithmic approach to youtube and being obsessive about marketing and viral content. her degree(s) are in marketing and business. so her "content" is all just clickbait shit. for all I know, chris broad's stuff is too these days, but he at least started out with helpful tips about living in japan as well as language learning tips etc. I wasn't an english teacher like he was, but I learned a TON from his early videos (and some online forums) back when vloging wasnt a thing and smartphones were barely a thing either.
also from her video about things getting bad, like lol tokyo is cleaner now than it was when I first went to japan as a tourist 20 years ago before later moving there for work.
foreign tourists and foreign workers (almost all chinese, koreans, nepalese, vietnamese, thais, some africans who usually are yakuza like nigerians and somalians) are getting annoying in large cities, but the cities themselves are cleaner than they were in the past.
t. worked in japan and china for the better part of a decade. chris broad is legit, oriental pearl knows her stuff especially the language but her content is pure algorithmic slop, and she has admitted to this from the beginning of her youtube channel.
