You had a neutral society. You unilaterally cancelled the social contract to attack with underhanded means against an unsuspecting public in the vain hopes you could just blitzkrieg society into whatever delusional ideology you have before they could react. You stalled out, fell to the ground and are now flopping all over the place while the rest of society tries to cut you out like a necrotic tumor.

They are still for free speech for everyone in their society. You are simply no longer considered to be a part of that.
