Throughout the story, Rudeus demonstrates restraint far more often than indulgence:
When he is young and surrounded by temptation, he frequently holds back because he recognizes the moral line between thought and action.
When his ED strikes, he doesn’t try to force intimacy on Sylphy or anyone else; instead, he withdraws, embarrassed and respectful of her feelings. Even when other women show interest, he doesn’t recklessly pursue them his eventual polygamous household comes from reciprocal love and consent, not manipulation.
This restraint is a far more accurate measure of his morality than his dirty jokes or internal commentary, which are deliberately exaggerated as part of his flawed but human character.
Mushoku Tensei is unusual among isekai in that it doesn’t sanitize human desire. Rudeus is written as a man who has lusts, failures, and vices, but what separates him from being “bad” is his effort to transform those impulses into something responsible. His “perversion” is acknowledged as a flaw, not glorified as predation.
