He's from the old school, before the hipsters discovered that insufferably talking about cameras online could be a source of income. I like how he actually goes out and uses gear rather than sitting at home just talking about it like most contemporary reviewers.
My only criticism of him is that it's often (of late) very obvious whenever he withholds his own critiques on a product or gives too much generosity/copes in his reviews when he's been given the gear for free to review and wants to maintain his relationship with the brand. He's obviously capable of being scathing in his reviews of gear he purchased himself so it's a little disappointing to see that double standard, however understandable it may be.
