The same reason everyone else is fine with just one of the four. I guess having just one is like you're being in the center, but if you add something on the side it disturbs the balance.
Look, I didn't write this series, I'm just trying to explain my understanding of it, which is admittedly partially just "because the plot says so" since Kubo doesn't like explaining everything in detail, or whatever his thing is that makes it so people don't always get what's going on. I remember hearing something about him not liking big expository flashbacks and only using them when he doesn't have any other options, or something like that.
And in the time it took me to type all this up, other people have responded, and it seeme like you still don't get it.

Look, the whole point of the flashback was explaining how Ichigo has four different sets of powers, so the explanation was most likely made around the premise of the situation. That's the real world answer. And he wouldn't need to go in the gigai if he wasn't going to save her, so the question of whether his soul would die is irrelevant. Or it just works differently because regular human souls aren't dangerous like hollows are.
And it didn't literally require marriage, just him being around to help stabilize her.
