It's a great standalone game if DD1 didn't exist. But knowing what "could have been" ruins it. It's similar to MGSV. Also what I find hilarious is Capcom is still trying to create a "live service" game outside of Monster Hunter, and with bringing Dragon's Dogma Online to the West when they had the chance, or even adding coop and constant updates to DD2 they could have achieved that. Capcom has this amazing track-record or making a ton of great decisions, and then going back to bad ones and just keeps happening back and forth.
