They use loyalty programs entangled with partner credit cards but those have become so fucking complicated to manage that it's absurd. They all gravitated toward industry "best practices" and, as you said, are no longer distinguishable from one another, like vehicles that were as cheaply as possibly conformed to safety standards and now all look the same no matter who makes them.
There's really no way out for them at this point. I know why they try to give illusion of savings and additional value without actually doing so - they will die without maintaining that cash flow, and have to keep as much of it as possible. Look at 2020 - they kept employees on the payroll even there was no work for them. FF to 2025, the instant the numbers start to dip, they started laying off by the hundreds. MGM and Caesars are leveraged into oblivion and have little in the way of assets, so they keep prices high. All the others follow along because despite protestations to the contrary and the absence of any investigation into it, hotel prices are obviously a product of an an at least informal agreement.
