I remember buying the BoVD exited to see cool shit because it was in a sealed slip cover back in the day, only to open it and find things only SLIGHTLY worse than a normal D&D book, with rules even more laughably shit than normal. The only thing passable was the poison table and some of the spells.
What gives? Is a magic rod made of wiggly tongues really that horrible to depict? That one Cenobite god over in Pathfinder is more wretched than anything depicted in olde BoVD
