>pushes the needle more towards the left
No, it doesn't. It simply validates corporate liberal policy as "progressive" while tarnishing the reputation of the left.
>one of the biggest financial centers has some lite socialist economics in place
>>biggest financial centers
>>lite socialist economics in place
Think about this for just one moment. This would NEVER be allowed. This is how I know Mamdani is a fake socialist. If he were the real deal, he would have never been endorsed by prominent Democrats. He would have been arrested, assassinated, or something else would have taken him out of the political scene a long time ago
>tears down a lot of false preconceived ideas about leftists economics
No, it doesn't! If he's going to implement neoliberal economics (which he is) in the name of "socialism" or "progressive," then when it goes wrong this will have the effect of tarnishing the reputation of the left. This is precisely what happened under Obama. Obama was a loyal servant of the banks but he had the public reputation of being left-of-center (which was never true). But, it didn't matter that it was not true. What mattered was the perception. What mattered was that his corporate welfare for insurance companies, his wars, his mass surveillance, his war on whistleblowers, his banker bailouts, and all his other establishment corporate policies were perceived of by normies as being about as "far left" as you can possibly get.

Why would I vote for Mamdani knowing that this same exact model is being followed right now? I'd rather stay home and not participate in this
