>i will never buy that argument
>when i go to work, i want to perform at a high level because i take pride in what i do
Anon, having pride in how you do your job isn't a bad thing. Burning yourself for some corpo fuckwit while saying that is just dumb though.
>work a very seasonal-heavy retail job, most of my coworkers can't spare braincells or effort for this shit meaning I'm one of four or five people fighting the Uruk-Hai invasion on every shift
>memorial day week rolls around, everyone and their mother from the entire regional area is buying shit up because projects, department looks like a second F5 came through after Dorothy got yanked to Oz
>decide to go all in, work effectively the entire week and rack up OT, ~70 hrs plus memorial day pay, one of coworkers does same
>start of next week, called to meeting with management, upper corp bitching that we never should have been allowed to work all week, we care about the health of our workers, never do this again
>sorry for taking an extra $800 out of your multi-million yearly bonuses I guess, fuck you

Still working there just because they refuse to get rid of me, still scaring all the lazy zoomies by running circles, but at this point I'm doing it solely to try and kill myself faster and have no issues telling customers or my managers the same. Why bother taking care of myself, if I die of a heart attack or crushed under a couple thousand pounds of product, fuck it. If some uppity boomer fuck gets mad enough to run me over or stab me because his dick wasn't adequately sucked while I'm grabbing whatever he's too old to put in his own vehicle (or claiming back surgery while effortlessly exiting and entering his car again just to stand and watch their stuff get loaded, holy fuck) then I'll take him with me just to prove a point.
