Our parents are to blame for doing this to us. If I had the responsibility to raise children, especially male children, I'd have done my best to at least spend a little time with him doing masculine things together. We would go camping in the woods, or even let him drive my car despite being underage because it's on a remote location.
But boomer dads just want to shit you out into the world and let you figure everything for yourself, I barely even know anything about him and I'm already almost 30.
