Hi /meg/, I've got a question. I'm enlisting in the Air Force and I got booked 1N331 (ground linguist) really quickly after taking my ASVAB. I was really unsure of what the AFSC entailed aside from the job title, but they wanted an answer right there and then. I hesitated and they offered to let me wait till the next AFSCs dropped. When they did they automatically booked me for 1A831 (airborne linguist) without asking me. I am willing to do the linguist job, but I would like to be a ground linguist now that I know more about it. I might look stupid to my recruiter, but I would like to switch back to 1N331 and be booked for that. I have not signed any final contract yet, and am still in DEP. What should I say to my recruiter? Is there a way that switch can be made? I know if someone in my flight has ground I can swap with them, but I'd like to see if my recruiter can do it. Can I switch at DLI if I talk to my MTL or command? Thank you.
