You need to properly be guided before you go on hormones, but also afterwards because HRT not only changes you biologically, your environment changes too. Some people get shunned so they need somebody to guide them through it. A lot of suicides can be prevented if we increase psychiatric help.
I also think that it should be harder to get on HRT. You can get the diagnosis after one appointment with a psychiatrist where I live. Some trans people say that's an entire process, but that's a lie. It's very easy if you're actually trans.
