It's very much an aspect that's meant to be exciting for a story. Yu-Gi-Oh at its core is more telling a story and a workable game is secondary.

And if you add summoning sickness between that every time, it bogs down shit for what is supposed to be 19 pages a week in a foreign comic book magazine. The author needs control if a looming threat is on the horizon, so that's why we got Swords of Revealing Light.

lol I didn't know Raigeki was banned in the manga. Kazuki Takahashi knew this was busted.
