Not really sure. They gain InteractEXP when you use Interact (while also getting InteractWMstrEXP), but also get Interact EXP when you use Gathering. At this time I don't think it really does anything? I do know that characters can eventually start nightcrawling each other if you use Gathering a lot between the same characters all the time, though this is based on the original branch (eraMegaten). Unless it's been hidden away or not properly activated on my end, I don't think I've ever seen nightcrawling at all even though I left everything at default for Tensei-P.

As for Restaurant earnings, well, 243 was the amount when Yomi was pregnant. Being [Pregnant] raises income gained from both Restaurant and Brothel work; does the post-apocalyptic Megaten world have a pregnancy fetish or something? Note that though I'm on NG5+ right now, the only time I earned Restaurant income was on the first run and this current run as the runs in between were pretty much fast-track towards [No Endless Mode] endings within the first Turn or two. Though 243 Macca from a single character is probably nothing compared to Brothel and Public Toilet income.
