>gameplay is at the bottom of the list of important things as evidenced by all the current popular MMOs having pretty terrible gameplay.
Have to wonder how much of that is due to history and clout carrying those popular games, versus MMO players just having low standards in general. Anything can be made fun if you're playing it with your friends.
It's just frustrating to see so many entries into the genre during the early 2010s which took an actual swing at making their moment-to-moment gameplay interesting have all largely died off, or are on life support. The only real exception of which I can think of being Guild Wars 2, and that one's always going to be a weirdly divisive pick on this site for one reason or another, regardless of its quality.

Roblox, not even once.
Mildly surprised something like that doesn't happen more often, given how infamously lax most boards are with their moderation in [current year].

Eh yeah, fair enough.
Classic's meteoric (by TERA standards) rise and crashing fall felt like a speedrun of what befell Menmas however-many years ago. There was a bit of population spillover towards trying out Starscape and other servers once it died, but nothing on nearly the same level of activity or interest.
I'm sure even Classic would've started churning through its playerbase before long had things not imploded so rapidly, knowing what we do now about who was at the helm.
Maybe it's inevitable for TERA to remain a pretty niche title regardless of server, given its narrow structure, subpar social systems, and no official content being developed. Was fun while it lasted, at least.
