Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zakharova commented on the events in Nepal:

"We saw it live - the whole world witnessed people who just yesterday were in power, who just yesterday were public figures, politicians, appointed or elected officials, and so on, being beaten in front of phone cameras. And, as far as I understand, some were even killed, because there are victims. And all of this really happened live.

It’s terrifying because it’s one thing to witness a natural disaster, to see footage of a plane crash or some accident at sea. But when it’s not connected to a natural disaster, not related to an extraordinary natural event, a climate catastrophe, or even an accidental man-made disaster, that’s another thing.

When you realize that this is being done by people, of course, it’s a completely different kind of tragedy."
