The CPU is anywhere from 5-10x more powerful depending on how you count it (more cores/threads, higher clocks, but in-order powerPC with a fucking NOP between every single instruction), had 20x the memory bandwidth, the GPU had 40x the shader units (depending on how you count) ran twice as fast, and had an eDRAM cache that was 64x as fast as the OG Xbox memory.

If you count it by GPU performance then the 40x claim is not an exaggeration. And it's the GPU performance that matters the most for games, which is why the 360 ended up looking far better than PS3 for multiplatform games.
