The movie begins with Denji and Makima's date. And the scene drives forward and impactful statement about the movie going forward. At the cinema during an intermission Makima says she only sees about 1 movie out of 10 that is any good, but of those particular movies one had changed her life.
This film lives and dies by that statement. It could have fallen flat and you would ridicule the film for being one of the other 9. Instead it is the 1 movie you see that sets itself apart. It delivers a movie watching experience you won't forget. It's a 90 minute, perfectly paced ride and you will not want to get off because of how well put together all the scenes are and how well produced the animation is.
It has the breathtaking action people expect from something like Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen. But it also presents cinematography, music, and storytelling that you don't get from other anime about screaming your friends or enemies names at the top of your lungs. This movie delivers on all fronts and emotional, visceral experience that sticks with you.
By comparison the Infinity Castle movie was a gorgeous, dog shit movie. Tatsuya Yoshihara is now a director that I want to see helm more projects because this was a fucking masterpiece. He understood the assignment so well and put it together in such a perfect way. This was simply the best adaptation to screen a manga has been treated with.
I don't know how much higher to praise.
