They sure did an amazing job considering the financial trouble Ubisoft is in, how a professor's career was destroyed because of that game, Wikipedia losing even more credibility, and how much Japan itself was enflamed and became warier of foreign media in general. I had a laugh when Ubisoft tried to present merchandise of one of Zoro's swords as an original prop at least.
You have to realize that some things aren't "engagement bait", they're just politically motivated and maybe even intended to insult people the makers dislike, because the makers arrogantly think they're too big to fail and couldn't possibly go bankrupt because of bad decisions.
