You know what's good for a pick-me-up though? Some Billy Joel by way of Lawrence, live. Here's New York State of Mind.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHk2UpBpFhA
This is the sort of song that gets me emotional too, but in a different way. I've only really been to New York once, but it was a great experience. But even before that, this song is another one of those that just envelopes you in itself. They even got Billy Joel's saxophone guy to do this one with them, and he fucking kills it. And Clyde, on the vocals and the piano, nails it too. You just can't miss with Lawrence, baby. Goddamn, it's so good, you guys.

And that's what I really wanted to leave you with tonight. Until next time, guys, this is Deep Space Radio, signing off.

Finally, gonna end it on this one featuring Gracie Lawrence doing a performance of Who's Sorry Now.
https://youtu.be/5CWPEHzrsY8
You may or may not have known Gracie does Broadway. Well, consider yourself edumacated now, she was nominated for a fucking Tony. She's got a real classical Broadway style to her singing. I've got a relative who's going into teaching for theater and I can really appreciate the way Gracie puts her whole existence into her singing. Remember what I was saying about people putting their whole body into their voice? This is a prime example. Every part of her face, the tilt of her body, it all goes into channeling air through her mouth for maximum effect. It's hypnotizing to watch. Remember, people like this are trained to sing to the back seats, even without a mic. They've got voices 100% bigger than they are. It's really astonishing.

Anyway, hope you had fun, that's all for tonight. Until next time, this is Deep Space Radio, signing off.

I doubt this is the original version, but just to prove it's an older tune:

Next up is another double feature, from Durry this time. I downloaded their album This Movie Sucks and found a few more gems on it. First off is Good Grief.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWnm4mUHA6I
A lotta their songs have a pretty good message set to a good tune, this one being about living a life worth leaving behind for people to remember, whether that's living big and on the edge, or taking it easy and enjoying life as it comes. The guy's vocals have really really grown on me, some songs he strikes kind of a punk country vibe and I think I like that.

But I wanted to end on the one that's probably a closer for them, The Long Goodbye.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqbRAj30Ias
This is the one that really gives me country vibes, but it's very clearly the one that's meant for their audience to sing along with. Like, this is the goodbye you sing to the audience as they sing it back to you, so everyone leaves feeling warm and fuzzy and it's just very pretty, I really enjoy it. Beautiful harmonies and a sweet wish to meet again someday.

So until we get that long goodbye, Toonami General, we'll hope for a short one for now. Until our next one, good night, from Deep Space Radio to all of you.

We'll end tonight on Raining Blood by Slayer.

... As covered by MaroMaro1337 in retro Poland style.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOTQUkB18FY
Full disclosure, I don't actually know enough about Slayer to know how this translates. I mean, I can guess given the title, and a vague understanding of Slayer as a band, but still, I thought you guys might get a kick out of this at least. And it was a neat trick to use a kaleidoscope-ish effect to make a demon cat with several eyes - Satan, I guess? Rock on.

And with that to ease you off to sleep tonight, we wish you all good night, and good luck. Until next week, this is Deep Space Radio, signing off.

Finally, I wanted to end on a new one from The Beths.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-YWoVuqtp0
Always love to hear new stuff from them. I can't fully explain it but their sound always reminds me of the Pillows. And not like, the new stuff, and not even that closely. It's more the feeling I get listening to them that reminds me of listening to the Pillows back in the day. Similar instruments, maybe, but it's also that kind of whispy kind of nihilism where you're not sure which kind of nihilism you've landed on yet. Probably doesn't make any sense, but whatever, doesn't matter. Anyway, the video here has huge Dont Hug Me I'm Scared vibes and that's real fun.

Anyway, good night, Toonami General! We'll work something out for the marathon nights.

Last, I want to end on a classic that just got a new video. Somehow, for some reason, the Talking Heads released a new video for Psycho Killer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ54eImz88w
Love that bass, and how much that simple drum manages to hold it all down. It's a classic for a reason, and it's got a kinda stress-inducing quality to it, especially with the dissonant chord hits toward the end. But I really dig it, and the video's kinda neat too. Love to hear from an old favorite.

Anyway, that's it for tonight. Until next time, space cats!
