Still related. Retailers wanted to stock console games way more than they want to stock PC games. Especially in the era of Big Box when PC games were the size of a phonebook and a console game came in a jewel case. PC boxes shrank down to boxes around double thickness DVD size, but they were still treated as second class citizens at retail. Your big department store would have Blizzard games and the current big FPS. But they weren't going to buy isometric PC only RPGs.

Pillars of Eternity is awesome, but mainly for people who are a fan of detailed world building. It has one of the coolest Pantheons in games, as well as really smartly designed fantasy nations and history, but it's narrative voice can be really scholarly and make the game seem dry and wordy to a lot of people. And of course no romance at all in the first game which was a huge self-own for a game explicitly trying to throw back to BG2.
